Of mice and men

The night of 28th august my second cousin decided to end his life, I dedicate this post to him.
Michael, rest in peace.

I talked to his mother on the memorial today and she told me to remember to always take care of your baby. Time goes away so quickly. And you hear it all of the time, but it's very true! So when Kristiane didn't want to sleep, I laid her on my chest, and she calmed down. I took a picture for the memory of it. That moment will never come back, and I need to cherish it.

But when they are sleeping, we can KNIT!

The "Lina" hat was startet when I went to Jessheim, because my middle-little-sister's name is Lina, and I wanted her to have it. I think it will suit her perfectly! I actually shortened it abit because I personally dislike hats that are too long, so I only have 3 repeats and not four. I used 66g of Viking Sportsyarn.

And ofcourse, Kristianes kindergardensuit (for when she's like 3 years. haha). I actually struggeled a bit with it, because I was short some yarn. I needed to e-mail the shop where I bought the yarn and ask if they could send me a little skein. And they did! But now I see that there's a slight difference in the dye,. Shit! Hopefully no one else will notice:)

The pattern (Nøstebarndress) is to be found in the book "strikk til nøstebarn" and I've used 242g of 2tråds merinoull from Askeladen. Syrin and Brown.

I used pink mousebuttons that I got from a HV in Hobbyboden, but now I can't remember who it was, sorry. I really liked them, they look pretty cute walking up the buttonposte(?).

And I was in Jessheim last week. Did some shopping on sale, found myself 3 skeins of Drops Alpacca, 4 skeins of Smart, and a booklet with Sirdar Bamboo-patterns! I also found some yarn for a friend of mine, we're doing a swap. I just love sales.

And I've got two shawl-packages from Projo, so I better get startet then!

Why I shouldn't quit my dayjob

Kristiane turns 1 on saturday the 16th. And as the perfect, housewife, singlemom-parent I am I had to test-bake one chocolate cake for her. Well, I used a recipe from the book "Bak med Spelt" and the frosting is from Toro.

I tried drawing Mickey Mouse, but I think it looks like what you would see Mickey as when you're high on LSD.

Well, it's so hilarious that I just had to blog it. Enjoy.

PS. The cake tastes good though!

Extreme Makeover (home edition)

I don't know if you have seen my livingroom? Well, this was it. Its horrible! I hated every inch of it, and I really didn't like being in my livingroom.

But in April, I finally got the energy I needed to start painting it. Unfortunately the baby had her little period of teething and not sleeping at all, so I couldn't get finished before yesterday.
And look at the transformation! I can't believe it!
Okay, so it's not very filled with things, but I'm gonna get some flowers and pictures and such when I can afford it. It's not my top priority!

Enjoy!

I love the fresh smell of sheep in the evening.

Well, my third Kiri was finished yesterday evening (after an episode of "Medium") and as I was on my way to soak it up, I actually said it in my head. That be the headline.

Well, boring facts:
Kiri
Yarn: Kauni Effectyarn, 170gr, colour EZ.
Maybe I shouldn't have a red sweater on. Well, next time I will have colour-neutral cloths on! Haha
The shawl is really large, It's too big for me, but I think that the reciever is higher than me so it'll fit her perfectly. I hope.

As I have said before, I love swaps! Although it is a tad expensive, I do it only once in a while. Norwegian postage is killing me! Anyway, I got a package from Canada a few days ago. It was shipped in May, and now I know why the postmen have taken their time.

Look at all this faboulous goodies!
One skein of Indigo Moon merinoyarn. I loved the colour (and the waistband, silly me) Just have to figure out what I want to use it for.

Two skeins of HempLUX, I can't wait to try this yarn. I think I want to make a groceriebag of it, it was the July-pattern in "bag a month" on ravelry. I really liked it.
Wow, and now for all the other stuff. Will write a list:

3 magazines (vogue knitting, knit. 1, creative knitting)
3 bags of tootsie rolls ( I loooove that candy)
Rum raisin chocoalte
Iced tea kit

5 doublepointed needles in rosewood
4 stitchmarkers
Sheep measuring tape
Gauge
2 lobster buttons
Killer whale button
Canada-leaf button

And last but not least, she had crocheted Kristiane this beautiful top. I love it, and she will be wearing it on her 1. birthday the 16th of August.

And maybe you have noticed the quality of the pictures has improved? Yes, well, that's because I have bought a new camera! Weee
